Solomon Islands: GREAT coalition strengthens parliamentary majority, bolstering government stability ahead of 2028 elections

Between 9 and 12 October, PM Matthew Wale welcomed Members of Parliament for South Guadalcanal, Rollen Seleso, and South Choiseul, Tozen Leokana, into the Government for Reform, Empowerment, Accountability, and Transformation (GREAT) coalition. Both MPs pledged support for the coalition's policies.

Assessment: The two MPs have increased the GREAT coalition's parliamentary majority to 34 of 50 seats, strengthening its capacity to advance its policy agenda and likely maintain stability until the next general election, expected between April–May 2028.
